In reference to the ADEK Policy requirements, LISF has reviewed its current sustainability practices and is looking to the future with a new strategy to move the school into the future.
Our new school policy aims to create a clear plan for sustainability practices, focusing on:
Our Goals focus on Corporate Social Responsibility, integrating social and environmental concerns in our school operations and interactions with our stakeholders. We aim to empower our community to meet many of the UN SDGs and are committed to ISO 14000 standards which relate to environmental management that exists to help organizations (a) minimize how their operations (processes, etc.) negatively affect the environment (b) comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other environmentally oriented requirements; and continually improve in the above.
The main goals of the Sustainability Policy at Liwa International School – Falaj Hazza (LISF) are to:
Teach the school community about protecting the environment and using sustainable practices.
Raise environmental awareness and encourage sustainable thinking in all school activities.
Reduce resource use, cut waste, and support recycling and reusing initiatives.
Use energy-saving solutions to lower the school’s carbon footprint.
Promote eco-friendly habits among students, staff, and families for a sustainable lifestyle.
We will establish KPIs for each sustainability domain (e.g., 10% reduction in paper use, 20% increase in recycled materials).
Share progress towards these KPIs during school assemblies and newsletters.
Sustainability Committee tasked with completing quarterly reviews of action plans and performance metrics
Involve student representatives in data collection and reporting.
Provision of ongoing training for staff to ensure alignment with ISO 14000 requirements.
Hosting of bi-annual workshops for staff and students on the latest sustainability standards and practices.
Publish an annual sustainability report outlining progress, challenges, and future goals.
Ensure the report is accessible to all stakeholders through the school website and newsletters.
