School Principal, Liwa International School

I would like to welcome you to our school and to the 2019/20 school year.  My name is Larry Thaxter and I am the new principal of the Liwa International School. I am from Canada and have been dedicated to the field of education for more than 20 years and I have been very fortunate to have worked in the UAE as a school principal for the last 6 years.  I feel blessed to be the principal of the Liwa International School and will work hard to ensure I continue the wonderful work that Dr. Shereen has accomplished since she first opened the school in 1992.

As a parent, your most valuable treasure is your children. While your children are at our school I will treat them like they are my children and ensure they are provided a safe and stimulating learning environment.  A school needs to be a safe environment where students can attend without fear of bullying or other negative behavior from other students.  No student has the right to create a negative learning environment for other students or for our teachers.

Our school leadership team is committed to teaching and learning and plan to spend much of our day in the classrooms meeting your children and supporting our teachers.  Given this focus and commitment to be in the classrooms, I am available for appointments with parents between 7:30 am – 8:30 am and also after 1:00 PM on most days.  Should you wish to meet with me, please call the school to make an appointment to ensure I am available at the time you prefer.

Liwa International School is your children’s school and your school, and I welcome you to the Liwa family.  I will be hosting coffee mornings in the near future where I hope to welcome parents, meet you on an informal basis and hear your thoughts how we can work together to ensure Liwa International School remains one of the most recognized and prestigious schools in Al Ain.
